| Filmmaker Magazine recently featured the talent and hard work of Glass Eye Pix, whose founder Larry Fessenden, has been involved with the Woodstock Film Festival from its inception. Several of his directorial efforts have screened at WFF over the years, including Wendigo (2004) and The Last Winter (2006). The Glass Eye Pix scareflix lineup has been keeping the Hudson Valley very busy with film production. Joe Maggio's Bitter Feast shot in August and September. Jim Mickle's Stake-Land is set for production in November and James Felix McKenney's Hypothermia this coming winter. The slate of films is a huge boost to the local economy and emerging filmmakers. "In a time of independent film 'crisis,' when so many filmmakers are having problems getting their films into production much less on screens, Fessenden's Glass Eye Pix has quietly become one of the indie scene's most productive and longest-running companies..." As a director, Larry is set to helm the remake of the spanish horror film Orphanage, with Guillermo del Toro producing. We're crossing our fingers that it will also film in the Hudson Valley. Congratulations to Fessenden and the whole Glass Eye Pix crew for this much-deserved recognition from Filmmaker! |

Ron Mann's distribution company Films We Like just picked up the Canadian theatrical rights to Jonathan Demme's NEIL YOUNG TRUNK SHOW, which premiered at the 2009 Woodstock Film Festival and will be released in the U.S by Abramorama. Jonathan Demme presents NEIL YOUNG TRUNK SHOW, with Young in the middle of a stage full of personal icons, at times alone in the center of a circle of his beloved acoustic guitars, at others in the midst of a handful of much-beloved musicians Ben Keith, Rick Rosas, Ralph Molina, Anthony 'sweetpea' Crawford and wife, Pegi Young. There are delicately offered piano/guitar/voice numbers like "Ambulance Blues" and "Mexico"; mesmerizing electric travelogues into the artist's psyche ("No Hidden Path"); searing, chaotic anthems like "Hurricane" and 'Spirit Road"; and rarely performed pieces, like 'Harvest" that provide glimpses of Young's less public persona. |

MOTHERHOOD From writer/director Katherine Dieckmann, the acclaimed filmmaker of Diggers and A Good Baby, comes MOTHERHOOD, starring Uma Thurman, Anthony Edwards and Minnie Driver. Eliza wants it all - motherhood, a writing career, an egalitarian marriage but with the accumulation of minor crises on a daily basis, her wants may prove unattainable. A wise, warm and gentle comedy, MOTHERHOOD has much to teach about finding meaning and passion in the shared sacrifices of parenthood. From Thelma Adams |

(UNTITLED) In Jonathan Parker's (UNTITLED).
A fashionable contemporary art gallerist in Chelsea, New York falls for a brooding new music composer in this comic satire of the state of contemporary art. Adam Goldberg plays the composer, whose work calls for paper crumpling, glass breaking and bucket kicking. Marley Shelton plays the gorgeous Chelsea gallerist whose latest show features an artist (played by Vinnie Jones) who employs taxidermy and household objects. Further complicating the affair is the composer's brother, played by Eion Bailey, whose highly commercial art work - the financial backbone of the gallery - is sold to corporate clients discreetly out of the gallery's back room. |

THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS Starring Ewan McGregor, George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Spacey and a star-studded ensemble cast, THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS explores the "unbelievable" events inspired by the true story of the U.S. military's unit of pyschic soldiers. The film follows Bob Wilton (McGregor), a reporter in search of his next big story, and out of commission psychic soldier Lyn Cassady (Clooney) as they search for Cassady's former commanding officer Bill Django (Bridges), founder of the top secret psychic soldier's program, who has recently gone missing. |

THE MESSENGER Featuring tour-de-force performances from Ben Foster, Woody Harrelson and Samantha Morton, and a brilliant directorial debut by Oren Moverman, THE MESSENGER is a powerful and tender story about a returned war hero making his first steps toward a normal life. The film brings us into the inner lives of these outwardly steely heroes to reveal their fragility with compassion and dignity. |
