ANOTHER KIND
The 2011 Official WFF Selection ANOTHER KIND is now available on DVD and VOD.
The film was shot in the Hudson Valley.

Some city folk can’t even handle a weekend upstate!

Patrick, Jamie, Nate and Laura, a group of 20-something New Yorkers, drive to the Catskills for a long weekend of winter camping, but shortly after beginning their trek, it becomes apparent that they were probably better off staying home. Strange and inexplicable things begin to occur -- creepy and mysterious lights flash around them, their cell phones go haywire and their camping gear goes missing. They lose all sense of direction, and after a snowy, frostbitten night, the bitter cold numbing their bodies and minds, they begin having strange visions. It becomes difficult for them to discern dreams from reality, and little do they know, a twisted surprise awaits them back at the trailhead.

Touching on our fears that, at any moment anyone can lose one’s grip on reality, director Jonathan Blitstein crafts a suspenseful horror flick that will have your heart racing until the very end. -Emily Suttmeier

SKATEISTAN: FOUR WHEELS AND A BOARD IN KABUL
The 2011 Official WFF Selection SKATEISTAN is now available on DVD and VOD.
You can purchase the film via the film's website.

Not long ago Oliver Percovich and Sharna Nolan arrive in Kabul with little more than a couple of skateboards. in a country where children constitute more than half the population, they soon discover, that their boards draw local children like a magnetic force. After beginning regular skateboarding sessions in an abandoned fountain, one of the few smooth surfaces in Kabul, local boys and girls from the streets start to join them on a daily basis. These initial encounters, informal at first, eventually lead to the foundation of Skateistan, Afghanistan’s first co-educational skateboarding school. The film tells Skateistan’s story and how how a group of amateur- and pro skaters bridge ethnic-, religious and socio-economic barriers to bring hope to the children of a war-torn country – with the help of four wheels and a board.

life

Coming up this month your local Art Houses will have some great programming for you. A couple of highlights here for you.

UPSTATE WOODSTOCK
December 8, 1pm- Special screening of Olive Stone's JFK with co-writer Zach Sklar in attendance for a Q&A.

If you were alive fifty years ago on November 22, 1963, you know where you were when you heard the news that President John F. Kennedy had been shot, and if you weren’t, check out this amazing film on the “big screen” with our guest, co-screenwriter Zachary Sklar.

Speculation and argument about the assassination continues. Zach Sklar, co-writer of JFK, will be on hand to discuss the controversial three hour Oliver Stone film. As he and the director recently wrote, “Our film does not come to a firm conclusion about who was responsible for the Kennedy assassination, but it does reject the Warren Commission’s lone-gunman theory as implausible at best — a conclusion that 90 percent of the American people share…”

THE ROSENDALE THEATRE
December 13-14, 7:30pm & December 15, 2pm, It's a Wonderful Life live radio show.

The Rosendale Theatre is pleased to present It’s a Wonderful Life.  This is the classic holiday film done as a Live 1940’s Radio Play.  Frank Capra, the films director, wanted it to be a celebration of the lives and dreams of America’s ordinary citizens, who tried the best they could to do the right thing by themselves and their neighbors. This is an enduring and beloved story.

The show will be performed with live sound effects and music. The show features 5 actors playing 50 roles.  The performers are: Claudia Brown, Kimberly Kay, Brian Mathews, Jim Metzner, and Doug Motel.  The show will be directed by Ann Citron with sound effects and music by Fre Atlast.  This show is great for the whole family!  All funds go to benefit the Rosendale Theatre.
