WOODSTOCK FILM FESTIVAL
Announces World Premiere of the re-edited, re-mastered
1 GIANT LEAP II: WHAT ABOUT ME?

In conjunction with the BMI Music For Film Panel
Featuring Stewart Copeland (The Police), Krishna Das, and Director Duncan Bridgeman

(Woodstock, NY) July 6, 2015 - On the heels of this year’s much anticipated Kickoff Event featuring Cuban superstar Carlos Varela and Jackson Browne, the Woodstock Film Festival (Sept 30- Oct 4) is excited to announce the musically fueled re-cut, re-mastered World Premiere of 1 GIANT LEAP II: WHAT ABOUT ME?, co-directed by Duncan Bridgeman and Jamie Catto.

The non-linear, globe-trotting, and visually exhilerating film features appearances by Noam Chomsky, Eckhart Tolle, Tom Robbins, Tim Robbins, Stephen Fry, Bob Geldof, Billy Conolly, Gabrielle Roth, Deepak Chopra, Ram Das, Bhagavan Das, Krishna Das, Michael Stipe, Michael Franti, Speech, Baaba Maal, Maxi Jazz, Carlos Santana, Stewart Copeland, and many more.

Following the success of their double Grammy nominated film & album 1 Giant Leap, Duncan Bridgeman & Jamie Catto went back on the road visiting 50 locations. The result is a lovingly pieced film that takes an inspiring and entertaining look at our collective insanity: How we are needy in relationships, insatiable in desire, addicted to status, wounded by childhood and unable to stop thinking, but how we still manage to be inspired and creative.

The project had an unexpected sting in the tail- a seven year battle with the corporate media giant for the rights to release their film.

“It’s been a long time in the making and we now are proud to premiere the HD version of 1 Giant Leap II : What About Me? at the Woodstock Film Festival,” said Bridgeman.

1 Giant Leap II: What About Me? will screen on Friday evening, October 2, 5pm at the Woodstock Playhouse. Join the director Duncan Bridgeman, Stewart Copeland and Krishna Das for Q&A following the film.

About Stewart Copeland:

Stewart Copeland has spent more than three decades in the forefront of contemporary music as rock star, acclaimed film composer and documentary filmmaker, while concurrently moving between the disparate worlds of opera, ballet, world and chamber music. As the polyrhythmic drumming founder of The Police, Stewart introduced Sting and Andy Summers to the worlds of reggae and punk music, and with Sting’s songs and Summers’ complex guitar harmonies the band became an iconic force in rock music from the ‘80s through the present day.

Stewart spent twenty years as a successful film and TV composer, working for among others: Francis Ford Coppola on Rumble Fish , Oliver Stone on Wall Street and  on TV shows like The Equalizer.  Beginning in parallel to his film and rock music work Copeland also began to write opera, ballets and ‘serious’ orchestral concert pieces. Commissions and performances have ranged from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s performance of his score and edit of the 1925 black and white MGM silent film classic Ben-Hur, A Tale of the Christ.

About the Directors:

The pair of Bridgeman and Catto has been making music together since 1995. After Chris Blackwell funded their travel around the world, the first 1 Giant Leap film and album was made. With their first double Grammy nominated film & album, 1 Giant Leap, the two “realized an idea for a unique style of filmmaking” to create “a non-linear music led celebration of what it is to be a human in the crazy world we are all born into.”

Following the success of 1 Giant Leap, Bridgeman & Catto traversed the globe, collecting wisdom and musical jewels from 50 different locations, to compose an inspiring and entertaining meditation on “a more specific idea that unifies us,” what Bridgeman describes as “our collective insanity: how we are ego-driven, needy in relationships, insatiable in desire, addicted to status, wounded by childhood and unable to stop thinking, but how we still manage to be inspired and creative.”
