giving back

Well, the 13th annual Woodstock Film Festival has come to a close. All of us at WFF would like to thank every single person who made it happen — our wonderful staff and volunteers, the filmgoers, filmmakers, industry members and of course, the sponsors who made this great success all possible.

"...I love how the festival merges film, music, food and engaging conversation to create this fiercely independent, welcoming, exciting and warm event every year..." - Isil Bagdadi (Cavu Pictures)

A few of our highlights included:
•David Bromberg's performance following the NY Premiere of Beth Toni Kruvant's DAVID BROMBERG: UNSUNG HERO.

•The World Premiere of Jon Bowermaster's anti-fracking doc DEAR GOVERNOR CUOMO... and the family band that performed afterwards featuring Natalie Merchant, Simi Stone and surprise guest, congressman Maurice Hinchey!

•The Friday Night Filmmaker Party at the Saugerties Performing Arts Factorywith live music from Flannery Lunsford (star of STRUTTER) as well as special appearance by the Lombard twins from FREE EXPRESSION and live art by Ford Crull. Lindsey Webster entranced the crowd with her unique covers and Wine Teeth provided the perfect backdrop as guests mingled about.

The i-D Magazine pre-awards dinner at Cucina Woodstock.

• Jonathan Demme dancing up to accept his Honorary Maverick Award at Saturday night's gala.

Tim Blake Nelson accepting The Giving Back Award from Meera Gandhi and paying it foward to the 52nd Street Project.

Melissa Leo, Susie Essman, John Pankow, Brian Geraghty, Timothy Hutton, Lori Singer, Sally Kirkland, Krishna Das, Amy Heckerling, Barbara Kopple, David Bromberg, Charles Bradley, Jeremy Bernstein, Ben Hethcoat, Gill Holland, Dan Mirvish, Steven Hays, Rachel Brosnahan, Jee Young Ha, Putzel, Rhymes with Banana and many more guests and film highlights.

Based on the poignantly optimistic autobiographical writings of California–based journalist and poet Mark O’Brien, The Sessions tells the story of a man confined to an iron lung who is determined - at age 38 - to lose his virginity. With the help of his therapists and the guidance of his priest, he sets out to make his dream a reality.

Vamps- November 2

*Closing Night narrative of 2012 Woodstock Film Festival

Clueless director Amy Heckerling and star Alicia Silverstone reunite in Vamps, a cheeky, fresh comedy about two-eternally young party girls navigating the dating world in the Big City. But even with lifetimes of dating experience behind them, the duo realize they still have a lot to learn about love when Stacy (Krysten Ritter) unexpectedly falls for the son of a vampire hunter, and Goody (Silverstone) runs into the man of her dreams from decades earlier. The girls must decide if their chance at love is worth giving up their uncomplicated fabulously single lives forever.
